So I’m from NJ, I live near 1 of the rivers that is on high alert for this hybrid storm. Last year for Irene, more than half of my town was flooded, without power, etc. Power lines weren’t revived for over 2 weeks, gas lines broke & people were out of their homes for 3 months.
Now, a lot of people are criticizing us for our fear of the storm, but a lot of people don’t get that aside from Irene, we aren’t used to this kind of weather. We are used to bad thunderstorms here and there, some heavy winters with snow and also the bright shining summer days. This is a big deal for us.
This is also something to be scared shitless about because it is a hybrid storm, meaning multiple storms have combined to create one super storm. If you don’t find this shit scary you motherfuckers are clueless. It is also being called one of the worst storms to hit the US, this is historic. Oh and it also already claimed the lives of many so far.
So yes, you can may fun of us and the storm. Yes, we may join in. Yes, you may think this is a joke. But in all reality, this is very serious and I’m praying that everyone who is in the path of this deadly storm stays safe, including my family.

So I do know that we are a bit over a month away from the 11 year anniversary of the horrific events that took place on September 11, 2001, but lately I find myself continuously watching videos & looking at old newspaper clippings from this day. It was a turning point in American history. I remember, sitting in my 3rd grade classroom which was based out of the trailers in my school, it was at about 8 in the morning I would like to say, all of a sudden, we heard a loud roar and the shaking of our classroom for about 30 seconds. The room was silent for about a minute, wondering what just happened. Now, I live in New Jersey, Bergen County, that is fairly close to the WTC site and NY itself, it wasn’t until a half hour later that we discovered what that plane was. Turns out, it was the plane that eventually went to hit one of the WTC. I saw the smoke for so long from my house, the smoke that symbolized death, tragedy, a new day for America.
At this point, I’m truly speechless, it was such a sad moment in our nations history, in the history of the families who lost someone dear to them during this time. I know what it’s like to lose someone in a horrific way, such as my father, who passed away as the result of a murder-ruled medical malpractice, it’s such a hard thing to go through, but unfortunately there is no other option.
So I just wanted to say, that these poor victims of a mass murder haven’t gone unnoticed or forgotten, they are ALWAYS in the minds and hearts of America’s people, forever.

Hello I'm Presley. I'm 20 years old and from New Jersey. Double major in education and English, but a musician at heart. I've come to the realization that not all smiles mean happiness and not all hearts are warm. In life, we all go through different experiences & hardships that shape us into the person we will eventually become.
